Maruti Suzuki has announced that they have crossed 1 million vehicle mark by exporting a bright red colored Maruti Suzuki A Star to Denmark. On 30th April 2012, the red colored A Star was shipped from India to Denmark marking the departure of the 1 millionth vehicle from the Maruti Suzuki plant.

A Star will be sold as a Suzuki Alto in Denmark. The vehicle in question was also accompanied by 2200 other Maruti cars which will make its way to countries like Algeria, Denmark, Malta, Sweden, Switzerland, Egypt and Morocco. A Star is marketed as Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Celerio in International markets.

A Star hatchback has proved to be most popular Maruti Suzuki vehicle in European markets. Since January 2009, 3 lakh A Stars have been exported to over 100 countries. This is followed by Alto of which 2.50 lakh vehicle have been exported and Maruti 800 of which 2.26 lakh vehicle have been exported.

Reaching 1 millionth milestone is significant for the company. The company has found good customer acceptance in both European and non- European countries. In 2009-10 total exports were at 1.47 lakh units of which 75% were to European countries. During the past year exports increased from 23% to 66% where non European countries were concerned. In future, the company hopes to concentrate on newer markets in the ASEAN region.
