Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles total 5.4 pct of FY2014-15 sales

Maruti Suzuki reports 23 pct YoY growth for CNG vehicles sold. Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles attributed to 5.4 pct of total sales up from 4.9 pct in FY2013-14. Maruti Suzuki India sold 111,555 units (domestic 103,719 units and exports 7836 units) in March 2015 (PY 113,350 units) equating to 1.6 pct sales decline. MSIL total sales in FY2014-15 was 1,292,415 units, its highest ever fiscal sales (PY 1,155,041 units) equating to 11.9 pct growth. The previous high was in 2010-11, when MSIL sold 1,271,005 units. Domestic sale in FY 2014-15, at 1,170,702 units (PY 1,053,689 units) equating to 11.1 pct sales growth marking its highest ever domestic sales in a fiscal.

Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles sales increase

Total A segment sales for March 2015 stood at 85733 units (PY 86018 units, equating to .3 pct decline. Gypsy, Grand Vitara,Ertiga utility vehicle sales were reported at 6218 units (PY 6499 units) equating to 4.3 pct decline. Sales of Omni and Eeco vans stood at 11768 units (PY 9752 units) equating to 20.7 pct growth. Exports for the month stood at 7836 units (PY 11081 units), equating to 29.3 pct decline.

Maruti Suzuki introduced factory-fitted CNG cars in India in 2010. Now offers six dual fuel (CNG+Petrol) Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles models are sold: Alto, Alto K-10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga. Alto K-10 and Celerio CNG were launched in FY2014-15. CNG emits a negligible amount of PM10 and PM2.5. Delhi and Mumbai have a strong CNG distribution infrastructure, and reports almost 50 sales sales of Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga to be CNG variants.

Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles are equipped with Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) that works on works on Dual-ECU (Engine Control Unit) technology to deliver fuel efficiency, safety, reliability and performance. Fuel Efficiency in CNG* mode is reported as: Alto 30.46 km/kg, Alto K-10 32.26 km/kg, Celerio 31.79 km/kg, Wagon R 26.6 km/kg, Eeco 21.8 km/kg, and Ertiga 20.80 km/kg (certified by Test Agency under Rule 115 of CMVR 1989).

i-GPI accurately delivers gas to the engine for improved and consistent performance, using separate injectors for each cylinder. Based on ECU input, CNG is injected to the engine through gas ports. ECU controls CNG required for different driving conditions, leading to fuel efficiency.
