Maruti Suzuki India sales growth 61.2% in August 2013, Stingray WagonR launch
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a 61.2% increase in sales in the month of August 2013. Sales stood at 87,323 units during the month as compared to 54,154 units in August 2012. Exports increased significantly as they increased from 4,025 units in August 2012 to 11,305 units in August 2013, an increase of 180.9%.
In the utility vehicle segment, MSIL sold 4,563 units of Gypsy, Ertiga and Grand Vitara and 7,956 units of Omni and Eeco Vans. These sales were noteworthy when taking into account that the auto industry is currently going through one of the most challenging phases with a recorded 9th consecutive month of falling sales. The positive growth rate doesn’t mark an improved sales figure for the but marks an increase as against last year thsi time when Maruti dealt with a plant shutdown, strikes, and lost production, thereby attributing to low sales.
