A new road safety awareness drive is being conducted by Maruti Suzuki India Limited in association with Maharashtra Highway Police. The formal partnership was announced recently to promote road safety in the state of Maharashtra. Maruti Suzuki vehicles will cover 9 cities in the state. Visits to various schools, colleges and communities are planned, bringing the message of road safety awareness to the people along with safe driving practices and techniques which will be portrayed in the form of messages, speeches games and competitions to make audiences aware of road safety.

Special leaflets pertaining to road signs and information of Maruti Driving Schools in Maharashtra will be distributed while an event is also being planned in Pune where a simulator will be used to drive the message even further into the minds of audience.

This message will be taken to cities such as Pune, Nashik, Baramati, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, Nerul, Vashi and Khargar.  Painting competitions are also being organised by Maharashtra Highway Police at college level while prizes will be in the form of Maruti Driving School training books of which 350 copies will be distributed to winners.

The country the largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Maharashtra Highway Police today formally announced a partnership to promote road safety in the state of Maharashtra wherein a co-branded vehicle will cover 9 cities in the state to spread awareness on safe driving practices across schools, colleges and communities. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Honourable Home Minister of Maharashtra, Shri RR Patil in the presence of Shri Anand Paranjape, Shri Ganapat Gaikwad.

From Maharashtra High way police Shri K.P.Raghuvanshi, Shri Vijay Kambale and Shrimati Rashmi Karandikar were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Hena Kausar, AGM, Maruti Suzuki said, “As a responsible corporate, Maruti Suzuki has undertaken numerous initiatives to promote road safety across the country in partnership with state governments & local traffic police. The company has set up Institutes of Driving Training & Research partnering state governments and Road Safety Knowledge Centers in partnership with local traffic police which have been fairly successful. I am sure that even this initiative, in partnership with the Maharashtra Highway Police, we shall be able to reach the maximum audience to promote and instil safe driving practices.”

During the Road Safety Campaign, a Maharashtra Highway Police & Maruti Suzuki co-branded vehicle shall move across the targeted cities namely Pune, Nashik, Baramati, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, Nerul, Vashi and Khargar covering residential areas and colleges in the vicinity of Maruti Driving Schools. This vehicle will deliver road safety messages; speeches also initiate on-the-spot games/competitions to make the audience aware of safe practices. Leaflets pertaining to Road signs and information of Maruti Driving Schools across Maharashtra shall also be distributed. A sperate event is also planned in Pune, where a simulator would be displayed and will be used by dignitaries present. The Maruti Driving School training book will be promoted by distributing 350 copies to the winners of Painting competitions organized by Maharashtra Highway Police in various colleges across Maharashtra. These will be distributed by Deputy Commissioners / other Police officials of the respective areas.
