Maruti Suzuki road tests Ciaz near Gurgaon Plant
Maruti Suzuki’s next offering in the form of Ciaz sedan is slated to make its way into showrooms just ahead of the festive season in India. Ciaz sedan was spotted testing close to the company’s Gurgaon plant while it has been confirmed that it will be receiving both petrol and diesel engine options.
Showcased in its concept format at 2014 Auto Expo, the upcoming Ciaz from Maruti Suzuki is in actual a replacement for the outgoing SX4, albeit at a higher price. Maruti’s SX4 has not been seeing good results in recent times despite the fact that it is offered with diesel and CNG engine options. Sales of the SX4 sedan have seen a sharp fall recording just 297 units per month during the July to December 2013 period.
Sporting the same shell structure from its concept format, the Ciaz was spotted up north. Once launched, it will compete with new Honda City, Hyundai Verna, refreshed Fiat Linea launched recently, and others.
Interiors will be similar in a number of respects to both SX4 and Ertiga and will receive plush leather seating. Sitting on 15” alloy wheels and sporting keyless entry and push button start, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered in L, V and Z trim levels. It will sit on the same platform as Ertiga MPV and will be powered by the same 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine and 1.3 liter VGT Multijet turbo diesel engine. Images via Motorbeam
