Maruti Suzuki YL1 sedan spy shots from Gurgaon
Maruti Suzuki’s SX4 replacement is codenamed YL1. This sedan is set for launch in India by mid 2014 and was recently spotted on test in Gurgaon. To share its platform with Maruti Ertiga MPV, the upcoming model will have a number of styling details based on Suzuki Authentics Concept which were revealed at Shanghai earlier this year.
The sedan itself will weigh about 100 kgs less than SX4 variants and will come in sitting on 15 inch alloy wheels with 185/60R15 spec tires and will be launched in L, V and Z variants. The top of the line Z trim will receive Keyless Entry and will get 16” alloy wheels along with electronic folding mirrors.
The segment in which the YL1 sedan is expected to be launched, is the one in which the current Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, or the Maruti SX4 compete. This is a lucrative segment, and has the potential to register an increase in sales, as buyers in India are moving towards sedans and bigger cars at a much faster rate than before.
