Earlier seen at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the iV4 is a refined version of XA Alpha Concept. iV-4 measures 4215mm in length, 1855mm in width and stands 1665mm in height while it sits on a wheelbase measuring 2500mm.
The company may alter dimensions so as to fit the upcoming SUV in a sub 4 meter category to take advantage of various tax benefits offered by the Indian Government thus ensuring a more affordable price tag. Launch of a compact SUV by Maruti in India is expected to take place by 2015.
Apart from this, Maruti will also show the YL-1 concept at the Delhi Auto Expo, which will replace their SX4 sedan. This is expected to go into production by mid – 2014. To be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, the upcoming sedan could be christened Maruti Ciaz. The new Maruti Ciaz’ design is derived from the Suzuki Authentics Concept, which was showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
Maruti Ciaz will receive two engine options in the form of a 1.4 liter K Series petrol also seen on board the Maruti Ertiga and a Fiat sourced 1.6 liter MultiJet diesel engine. Ciaz, though making its presence felt at the upcoming Auto Expo could possibly be only launched later this year during the festive season.
The other star attraction from Maruti is the Celerio hatchback. This will be launched soon after the Auto Expo, and it will replace existing A Star. Once launched, it will compete with Hyundai Grand i10.
