McLaren GT has confirmed plans for a limited production run of the track ready 12C GT CAN AM Edition. The vehicle which made its entry at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance early this summer will be heading toward the 2012 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of Americas as it pays tribute to Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme who have been victorious in a number of McLaren model in the CAN AM Series and winning a host of championships between them for Bruce McLaren racing.
Limited to only 30 examples and valued as an ultimate track car the 12C GT racer will possess a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine offering 630 hp making it go down in the realms of history as the most powerful 12C ever produced. Featuring a unique engine calibration and optimized cooling system along with enhanced use of carbon fiber is what enhances performance of this limited edition model. Carbon fiber is also used in engine cover vents, side radiator intakes, sill covers and badges.
Its exterior is seen with black satin finished forged lightweight racing alloy wheels and Pirelli race tyres. The two seater race seats, a McLaren GT steering wheel in a unique shape and grip along with a light weight carbon fiber dashboard adds a touch of class to the 12C GT which will come in at a cost of £375,000, each of which will be built at the McLaren GT Woking plant from March 2013.
