McLaren MP4-12C has been awarded the title of Car of the Year at the Middle East Motor Awards 2012. McLaren Mp4-12C is also named as the Best Supercar. At the award function, McLaren Automotive’s MP4-12C was named COTY after a thorough scrutiny of 50 cars by region’s top automotive experts.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, organiser Saif Al Midfa, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah: “The 12C is a clear winner for ‘Car of the Year’. McLaren’s debut model is a stunning car and worthy of making the ultimate wish list for any automotive fan.”

Elsewhere, McLaren P1 was spotted in the UK earlier this week. P1 is the successor to McLaren F1, the legendary sports car from the British car maker. The P1 here, is expected to be powered by a 3.8 liter V8 engine, that is also seen in the MP4-12C. But power output is expected to be in excess of 800 bhp.

McLaren P1 will also feature KERS technology, which is seen in Formula 1 race cars. KERS will help P1 to achieve a boost of around 160 bhp. McLaren P1 is expected to be revealed officially at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Once launched, it will be seen competing with Ferrari F70 and Bugatti Veyron.
