Mercedes Benz A Class is rewriting history in the luxury car industry. German automakers Daimler have added a third shift to their Rastatt Plant in Germany due to increased demand for their new Mercedes Benz A Class compact hatchback. Since June 2012, the company has received 70,000 orders and this had caused to company to extend their full time workforce by 500 so as to effect timely deliveries to their customers. Mercedes Benz last experienced something like this, when they launched the Baby Benz C Class back in 1993. The success of A Class will play a major role if Mercedes Benz is to achieve their goal of becoming the largest luxury car maker in the world by 2020.

A Class hatchback is based on the MFA Platform which promises to be a major game changer for Mercedes Benz with the company calling the A Class the biggest success in the automaker’s history. The car has impressed most people who attended the pre launch event with 1 out of 10 persons placing their pre launch bookings on the car. The vehicle is competitively priced, oozes luxury and is fitted with a host of safety features.

Being based on the MFA platform means that A Class will have a highly efficient powerful turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine. In Indian markets, Mercedes Benz will be launching A Class in 2013 where it is expected to undercut the B Class, where pricing is concerned. A Class will be assembled in India at company plant through CKD kits keeping prices well within limits.
