The turbocharged V6 unit audio recording was created on a development engine at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) in Brixworth, UK. The simulated lap is of the Monza circuit. The effort was then synced to a lap of the circuit at the team’s Driver-in-the-Loop simulator at team HQ in Brackley, UK.

The vid gives us an insight of how the new Power Units will sound in 2014, with a max rev limit of 15,000 rpm and a single turbocharger spinning at speeds of up to 125,000 rpm. Exclusive content will be uploaded on the YouTube channel through the F1 season and off-season. 2014: A lap with the new Mercedes-Benz V6 is already reaching 5 million 500,000 views in a days time. The video comes with a specail note ‘Best enjoyed with the sound turned up LOUD and on headphones or speakers for the full effect! Laptop speakers may lead to pale imitations of a Formula One Power Unit.’
