As the BMW Concept Active Tourer gets ready to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012, it may be mentioned that this plug in hybrid electric vehicle will possess a three cylinder 1.5 liter petrol engine working in sync with an electric motor. This motor is a six cylinder 3.0 liter unit. The electric motor is installed on the rear axle and can power the car on its own capacity.

Peak torque will stand at 200 Nm while combined system output is 190hp and acceleration is possible from 0 to 100 kmph in 8 seconds and top speed stands at 200 kmph. Fuel consumption will be at about 2.5 liters per 100 kms and CO2 emissions at less than 60 g/km. BMW Concept Active Tourer is a front wheel drive car and though still in concept stage, it is expected that this will carry forth to the production model as well. Measuring 4350mm in length, 1834mm in width and standing 1560mm tall, the Tourer will have a wheelbase of 2670mm.

Where exterior features are concerned there is little that BMW has not paid attention to while its interiors are completely new and even steering wheel and gearshifter has been given a fresh appearance. BMW has also announced a Cool Shade sun roof. This is a panoramic glass roof that will change to opaque at the touch of a button. The list seems endless and customers are eagerly awaiting its release but there are still two weeks to go before the Active Tourer is ready for viewing at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
