A diesel variant with a 1.8 liter four cylinder engine is expected to be launched sometime in the coming year. Efficiency levels are very high in this new B Class while it also possesses a host of safety features which include seven airbags with four of these in the front passenger and driver area giving protection from all angles and sides. The driver also gets a knee airbag while front and rear passengers are provided with window airbags.
Other safety features include Brake Assist System, Hill Start Assist, Electric Parking Brake and Crash Sensor Emergency opening function. Fuel economy is pegged at 14.81 kmpl while the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 10.2 seconds while reaching a top speed of 190 kmph. Mercedes Benz B Class Sports Tourer is now available in the Indian luxury market in a CBU format, while it will be assembled in Indian at the company Chakan plant from 2013.
