Past one year has seen Mercedes Benz not only close down gap in sales between them and Audi India, but also topple the brand with four rings to report highest luxury car sales during Q1 2015. In that period, MB India sales stood at 3,566 units (40% growth), while Audi India sold 3,139 units (15% growth).
This has been made possible thanks to Mercedes Benz India’s product offensive strategy. Launching at least one new car every month, MB India has been posting the highest sales growth rate in the luxury car industry today. This year, Mercedes Benz India plans to launch 15 cars, highest ever for a calender year since they started operations in the country.
With sales increasing, Mercedes Benz India is also gearing up to increase their production facility, which currently is at 14,000 units a year. Earlier this year, the company had announced fresh investment of Rs 150 crore at their plant in Chakan, near Pune. Most of this investment was to be directed towards increasing their production capacity, by adding a new assembly line. This will take the company’s production capacity to 20,000 units annually.
Today, Mercedes Benz India revealed that they will start car production on the new assembly line at the Chakan plant from 11th June. This will be done at the hands of Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra; in presence of Shri Prakash Javadekar, Honorable Union Minister for EF & CC and Shri Subhash Desai, Honorable Industry Minister, Maharashtra.
