Mercedes Benz CLS facelift coming to Goodwood this June
Mercedes Benz will introduce the facelift version of its CLS coupé in June 2014. Unveiling will take place in front of a grand audience at Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS), West Sussex, England between June 26 and 29, 2014.
The revision of Mercedes Benz CLS will be cosmetic as well as drivetrain oriented. Notable feature in the revamp will be the incorporation of new Active Multibeam ILS LED lighting technology. Front and rear body kits will also be given refreshing treatments. The Active Multibeam LED will be the same as already seen in Mercedes Benz S Class. A new Command system is also expected in the CLS facelift, also a new steering wheel similar to the one in C-class.
In drivetrain department, engines remain the same. However with specific engines, it should get a new 9-speed automatic transmission setup. At present CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY petrol engine having 3.5 litre displacement in V6 configuration produces 306 hp max. power @ 6,500 rpm and 370 Nm peak torque between 3,500 and 5,250 rpm.
Diesel version has two engine options; CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY engine having 2.2 litre capacity in 4 cylinder in-line pattern and CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY engine having 3.0 litre volume in V6 arrangement.
CLS 250 CDI produces 201 hp max. power @ 4,200 rpm and 500 Nm peak torque between 1,600 and 1,800 rpm, and CLS 350 CDI churns out 262 hp max. power at 3,800 rpm and 620 Nm peak torque between 1600 and 2400 rpm.
