Mercedes Benz displays Electric Drive at Paris Motor Show 2012

Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive which was recently unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012 is slated to be the most powerful AMG production car to date. It will steer clear of any V12 engine or large turbos and will instead be propelled by four electric motors. These will have an output of 740 hp and 738 lb/ft torque which is what puts it in the category of most powerful and eco friendly vehicle.

Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. Expected to reach dealer showrooms by early next summer prices are slated to be in the €416,500 price range inclusive of 19% VAT.

Also on display at the Paris Motor Show will be the smart BRABUS electric drive and the B-Class Electric Drive concept. B-Class is set for market launch in 2014. It portrays a vehicle which is not only fun to drive but is ideal for every day family usage. It is driven by a 100 kW electric motor offering a 200 km range with maximum torque of 310 Nm. Internal space is at a premium while the vehicle floor near the rear axle provides space for the battery back thereby not only saving space but also adding to the vehicle’s centre of gravity.
