The new Mercedes Benz E Class facelift officially debuts at the 2013 North American International Auto Show later this month in Detroit. The car was caught on test near Metzingen, South West Germany in an undisguised form, where its notable changes were evident. New grille, new bumpers, full LED lights are to be seen in the new E Class.
Testing of the E Class facelift is also taking place at Sindelfingen production plant and Untertürkheim in Stuttgart. The Elegance variant will be seen with four louvre grille with the Mercedes Benz three pointed star on the hood while Avant-garde variant will see three pointed star on the slabbed grille.
Mercedes Benz will be commencing production of this upcoming model by March 2013. Saloon and estate variants of the new E Class will hit showrooms in Spring 2013 while the AMG models will also arrive in 2013 which will be fitted with a 5.5 liter bi turbo V8 engine from the E63 and CLS63 models. A price hike is also expected specially considering extra equipment on board. Entry level Mercedes E200 could come in at a price of £30,000 (Rs 27 lakhs).
