Feature additions include glossy black finish on ORVM housing, subtle striped decal on the sides, electronically adjustable passenger seat position with memory functions, panoramic sunroof, entertainment system for rear passengers, centre arm rest with cup holders for rear seats, and Edition 1 badge.
Edition 1 will be available only in diesel variants and there are no mechanical changes under the hood. Mercedes A 180 CDI and B 180 CDI cars will host the same 2143 cc 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 109 hp of max. power at 3,200 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque between 1,400 and 2,800 rpm. Both cars have 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) mated to their engines. Since ground clearance of both A and B class hatchbacks are increased in Edition 1 version, suspension characteristics may differ from regular models.
Launch price of current Mercedes Benz A 180 CDI is Rs. 22,90,000 and B 180 CDI is Rs. 22,60,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Prices of A and B 180 CDI Edition 1 are expected to be quite higher than current demand.
Mercedes Benz A class and B class luxury hatchbacks have been performing well in the market since their launch in 2013. Introducing such a special edition will certainly attract more buyers and nourish the competition against segment rival like BMW X1.
