Mercedes Benz to launch limited ‘Edition 1′ of A and B-class hatchbacks on 24 June 2014
Mercedes Benz is set to launch A class and B class Edition 1 versions on 24th june 2014. The special edition trims of Merc A and B luxury hatchbacks will be on sale for a limited time period only. Edition 1 hosts a pack of functional features and upped ground clearance in both the classes.
Edition 1 will be available only in diesel variants and there are no mechanical changes under the hood. Mercedes A 180 CDI and B 180 CDI cars will host the same 2143 cc 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 109 hp of max. power at 3,200 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque between 1,400 and 2,800 rpm. Both cars have 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) mated to their engines. Since ground clearance of both A and B class hatchbacks are increased in Edition 1 version, suspension characteristics may differ from regular models.
Launch price of current Mercedes Benz A 180 CDI is Rs. 22,90,000 and B 180 CDI is Rs. 22,60,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Prices of A and B 180 CDI Edition 1 are expected to be quite higher than current demand.
Mercedes Benz A class and B class luxury hatchbacks have been performing well in the market since their launch in 2013. Introducing such a special edition will certainly attract more buyers and nourish the competition against segment rival like BMW X1.
