Mercedes Benz GLE Class launched in India at INR 58.90 lakh

Having made its debut at the New York International Auto Show earlier in April 2015, Mercedes Benz GLE Class is now launched in India in two variants. Pricing stands at INR 58.90 lakh for the 250d variant and at INR 69.90 for the 350d variant. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.

On the design front, Mercedes Benz GLE Class receives new LED DRLs, projector headlamps and new front and rear bumper design while larger air dams add to its sporty looks. Its front is dominated by a new double slat grille with a distinctive Three Pointed Star logo while a new bonnet and lines on side profile also add to its sporty appearance.

Interiors of the new Mercedes Benz GLE Class spell comfort and luxury all around. It now features a 8” free standing infotainment system with a faster software and processor. Leather upholstery on seats can be selected from a range of colors and designs as per customer’s preferences while interiors get a host of carbon and wooden accents.

All smiles. Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India posing with the new GLE Class in front of photographers this afternoon at the launch event in New Delhi.

Dimensions stand at 4,819mm in length, 2,141 mm in width and 1,796 mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 2,915 mm while boot capacity stands at 690 liters, extendable to 2,010 liters with rear seats turned down.

Engine specifications on the Mercedes Benz GLE Class in India are same as those seen on the ML Class. The GLE 250d will be powered by a 2.1 liter in-line 4 cylinder diesel engine capable of 203 hp peak power and 500 Nm peak torque while the 350d will receive 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine offering 254 hp power and 619 Nm torque.

The difference lies in the fact that these engines are mated to 9 speed automatic gearbox and not 7 speed autos seen on the ML Class. It is due to this, that acceleration, drivability, fuel efficiency and gearshift are greatly improved. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph on the 250d is achieved in 8.6 seconds going down to 7.1 seconds on the 350d. Top speed is at 212 kmph and 225 kmph respectively.
