MBRDNA and Mercedes-Benz R&D India centre 2013 expansion

While Google’s workspace in California has always evoked a wow response from onlookers, why should they have all the fun. Last month, saw the new MBRDNA headquarters and Mercedes-Benz Silicon Valley R&D Center in Sunnyvale, CA come into being.

With this Daimler strengthens their international R&D network, and it sure looks like a great place to work in. The development is this year’s 2nd major expansion of an international R&D location with the enlarged Mercedes-Benz R&D centre in Bangalore, India being inaugurated earlier in the year.

“We have been operating various R&D locations in North America for many years now, in order to incorporate our customers’ needs and technological and social trends into our vehicles more quickly,” notes Prof. Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

Work on future premium infotainment and telematics solutions here aims to better Mercedes-Benz Apps for COMAND Online, mbrace, and Digital DriveStyle app among other R&D work on seamless integration of tech, apps, and smart devices into vehicles.

MBRDNA headquarters with about 100 personnel employed at present works on adapting driving assistance systems for the US market, and involves development in autonomous driving. Other research areas include fuel cell-powered electric vehicles and battery technologies. Society & Technology Research Group works on social trends in US to provide info and assesses current trends and their possible consequences.
