Mercedes-Benz India sells more cars than Audi in Q4 2013

2013 wreaked havoc for Indian automakers, having chomped away at sales volumes. Luxury car manufacturers have been a tad bit luckier. Both, Mercedes-Benz India and Audi have ended the year as had been aimed. For January – December 2013, Audi India has sold 10002 cars as compared to 9003 units through 2012, thus equating to 11% sales growth. For the year Mercedes-Benz India sold 9003 units as compared to 6840 cars sold in 2012 equating to 32% sales growth.

Q3 2013 outcome was similar with Audi India having sold 2545 luxury cars sold as compared to July – September 2012 sales, which stood at 2417 cars equating to 5% sales growth. During the same quarter, Mercedes-Benz India sold 2696 cars as compared to July-Sept 2012 when 1703 units were sold, which equated to 58.3% YOY sales growth for Q3 2013.

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “We are very satisfied with our performance in 2013 which we called the ‘Year of Offensive’.
