Mercedes Benz small SUV rival to BMW X1 and Audi Q3 spied

The Mercedes Benz GLA SUV, their answer to BMW X1 and Audi Q3, was recently caught on test. Auto enthusiasts need not get their hopes high, as the launch of this new baby SUV, is still two years away. The vehicle under heavy disguise was caught testing in a German town near Stuttgart.

Based on Mercedes Benz A Class and B Class MPV, with a Mercedes Front-Wheel Drive Architecture, the new GLA SUV will ride higher while design is more aggressive though compact and sporty in appearance. Mercedes GLA will be offered in a host of petrol and diesel four cylinder engine options and will attract buyers in the younger age group due to its compact size and reasonable price tag.

Estimates reveal that Mercedes Benz GLA SUV sales are expected to commence only in 2014. Once launched, the GLA will compete with Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Mercedes will offer the new GLA in both front and all wheel drives with choices of manual and automatic gearboxes.
