Mercedes confirms AMG GT as SLS AMG successor
The official word is out. Mercedes Benz SLS AMG successor is to be called Mercedes – AMG GT. Mercedes – AMG GT is the second car developed in Affalterbach and borrows a great deal of its makeup from its predecessor the SLS. The two door GT, once launched will compete with the Porsche 911.
This new high performance AMG GT makes its world premiere in fall of 2014 where it will immediately endear itself to sports car fans across the globe. Coming in with a dynamic design and high level of agility, no official prices of the GT have been announced as on date but estimates put it in a price bracket of well over $100,000.
Pictures of its interiors reveal classic red and black leather and an array of buttons and knobs besides aluminum pedals and carbon fiber décor adding to its sporty appeal. Embodying a sense of emotion and sensuality not seen on any other sports car, the GT comes in with an aviation design theme with four central climate control vents and single vent on the left and right of the dashboard.
World premiere of the AMG GT will take place at Paris Motor Show in October 2014. It will feature a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.
Mercedes AMG boss Tobias Moers said, “The new Mercedes-AMG GT shows that we will be positioning AMG more vehemently and aggressively than to date as a dynamic sports car brand. The technological substance of the Mercedes-AMG GT underscores our high aspirations with regard to driving dynamics, agility and sportiness. Following the global success of the SLS AMG, the new GT is the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. An initial exclusive look at the design of the interior shows what is in store for our customers: a GT sports car in its purest form.”
