Mercedes Benz StarDrive Experience is being offered by Mercedes Benz along with Mobil1. Here, Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar who is also first customer of the new Mercedes Benz M Class SUV, tested limits of Mercedes M Class at the airport tarmac while a host of customers who also participated in the StarDrive across India got a chance to experience the StarDrive in Mumbai along with the superstar.
2012 saw a total of 2400 participants while 7500 participants from 19 Indian cities have participated in the StarDrive Experience to date. This venture entails a team of expert drivers who have between 12 to 15 years of professional racing experience. It aims at educating customers about the nitty-gritty’s of handing facilities on critical road conditions in a safe and controlled manner by simulating rear life accident situations and off road conditions.
Bollywood singer, director and actor Farhan Akhtar enchanted audiences with his presence at the event held in Mumbai. He was also the first customer of the Mercedes Benz M Class and was seen proudly seated in his prized vehicle.
Mobil1 has a long and strong association with Mercedes Benz and motorsports. This exciting journey was brought to life by Mercedes-Benz to showcase the unmatched performance of its products combined with the finesse of engineering technology and luxury. The StarDrive Experience by Mercedes-Benz aims to educate its prospects and consumers about the handling of critical road situations in a safe and controlled environment by simulating real accident & off road conditions.
The enthusiasm for StarDrive Experience was enhanced by the participation of a very special customer of Mercedes-Benz India, who is also the First owner of the New M-Class, renowned Bollywood actor, director and singer, Farhan Akhtar.

The dynamic Mercedes-Benz off roaders like the M-Class and the GL-Class along with the C-Class and the E-class were put to test their power and performance under this exclusive drive experience. The exciting line up of C 63 AMG, E 63 AMG further raised the bar of performance during the drive. The off-road and on-road performance in terms of agility, simulation and dynamics of all the vehicles were brought to the knowledge of the prospects and the customers. The participants could experience the tangible benefits of world-class safety technologies like Pro-Engineering Package, Airmatic Package, 4ETS, Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) etc. during the driving program.

This is the third edition of Star Drive 2012 was kick started with Kochi and went on through Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi and Chandigarh with its grand finale in Mumbai. Participants at the StarDrive Experience can share their exciting experiences with their family & friends through the Wi-Fi enabled iPads installed in the high end Star Lounges – an exclusive hospitality area which is created for the participants of StarDrive by Mercedes-Benz.
This year the event activities are divided into following sections:
1. PRE-SAFE Demonstration activity: Dynamics of Mercedes-Benz sedans – C-Class and E class namely safety, agility and performance like PRE-SAFE®, ESP® are brought to the fore through controlled demonstration activities.
2. Off-roading demonstration activity: Tangible benefits of key off-roading technologies like Pro-Engineering Package, Airmatic Package, 4ETS, downhill speed regulation (DSR), etc. are showcased through demonstration activities with MB SUV’s – GL-Class and ML-Class. Artificial parcour set-ups have been created that resemble natural off-road terrains to demonstrate off-roading features in MB SUV’s. These parcours have been designed on the basis of global guidelines made by Mercedes-Benz driving events team at Germany for creating parcour set-up for globally held driving events.
StarDrive Experience is an Avante Garde initiative by Mercedes-Benz India and is in association with Mobil 1 and Daimler Financial Services. This is a part of Mercedes-Benz India’s strategy to increase its engagement with customers and patrons across the country.
