MG Motor UK MG6 sedan launched in Thailand at Rs 15.7 lakhs approximately
Spotlights were on the right-hand-drive MG6 mid-sized premium family sedan, as it was launched in Bangkok, as part of a joint operation between SAIC Motors and Thailand’s leading retail giants – CP Group. The MG brand has been in circulation for 90 years but was conspicuous by its absence from Thailand for the past few decades.
MG6 sedan is introduced into Thailand in a joint bid between SAIC Motors and CP Group and will be produced in the country at the company’s plant which has annual capacity of 50,000 units. It is from here that the company also plans exports to other ASEAN countries to include Malaysia and Indonesia, with Australia and New Zealand to also be probable importers of the MG6.
MG6 is launched in a price range of Bt 848,000 (Rs 15.73 lakhs) to Bt 1.128 million (23.75 lakhs) and is launched in both sedan and fastback body styles. MG6 competes with Honda Civic, Mazda3, Ford Focus and Toyota Corolla Altis. It sports a turbocharged 1.8 liter engine also manufactured in house. This engine is capable of 161 hp peak power and 215 Nm peak torque mated to a quick shift 6 speed Dual Clutch Transmission with five driving modes.
While interiors of the MG6 boast of enhanced space and sufficient head and leg room, safety on board the MG6 will also be at a premium. This is primarily due to its Ultimate Stiffness Design with 63% of the body structure constructed out of ultra high strength steel adhering to European NCAP 4 star crash ratings. Other safety features will include vehicle stability control, traction control, motor control slide retainer, cornering brake control, EBD, ABS and hill start assist besides indirect monitor tyre system and brake disk cleaning.
