Mahindra & Mahindra is set with their manufacturing unit aka 'future ready' plant at Chakan, Pune. This 700 acre venture boasts of a 5000 crore investment in its 1st phase to gurantee an installed capacity of 3 lakh vehicles annually. The figure will be increased to cope with global needs as required.
This eco friendly venture aims at smart, innovative, and sustainable engineering and has been developed in just over 2 years time. The venture supposedly speaks volumes for the Maharashtrian government support that's nurturing such huge projects.
Operations begin now but full capacity will only be reached in about 3-4 years from now. Manufacturing began with the Maxximo, and then the Navistar trucks. Next will be the new SUV, and Pik-Up range, and then the US market product line.
