It was at the end of 2013 that Moto Morini entered into an alliance with Mumbai based custom bike makers Vardenchi Motorcycles for the launch of the Italian brand in India. Moto Morini motorcycles will be on display at the Italian automakers pavilion at the 2014 Auto Expo in Greater Noida next week. It will also be launched in India and will be available at various sales and service centers, set to come up across major Indian cities.
The two iconic Moto Morini’s have left Bologna for an official Indian unveil at the Auto Expo. Granpasso 1200 boasts of an 1187cc bike with a V-Twin oversquare engine and is being projected as an adventure bike in India. It offers 120 PS power and 103 Nm torque and comes in with multi disc clutch and dual Brembos brakes. It also possesses a massive windshield and comfortable seating.
Scrambler 1200, powered by the same engine, on the other hand is an all terrain bike and fitted with 19” front wheel and tread block tyres. The Scrambler is fitted with Bialbero CorsaCorta 1187 cc twin cylinder offering 120PS of power and 102Nm torque while it possesses a 21 liter fuel tank and other striking and sporty elements.
No prices have been announced and could be revealed during launch. On their official website, Moto Morini 1200 Granpasso is priced at 16500€ (approx Rs 13.90 lakh), and the Moto Morini 1200 Scrambler is priced at 12900€ (Rs 10.87 lakh). Considering the high import duty levied on imported premium motorcycles, Moto Morini could well be priced in the Rs 25 lakh segment.
