MSD’s Mahi Racing Team India to set up academies in Delhi and South India

Mahi Racing Ream India, an eponymous  racing team launched by Indian Cricket Captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni is all set to launch state of art motorbike racing academies in north and south of India. While New Delhi is slated for opening one of these racing academies, the location for the one is South India is yet to be decided. With targets set to winning the 2013 season of World Superbike Championships, these two racing schools are being planned which has already been announced by Dhoni and have been confirmed by co owners Telugu film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna (of N-Motorsport) and Nandish Domlur.

Dhoni’s racing team will be heading for Phillip Islands in Australia for the 2013 season and has in its lineup triple world champion Kenan Sofouglu and former world champion Fabien Foret. The team partners with Kawasaki as their official factory team while Andrew Stone offers technical expertise to Mahi Racing riders who will be seen participating on Ninja ZX-6R bikes.

Mahi Racing Team riders need to be trained to participate on a global level as they look forward to promoting the sport in India and look ahead to having Indian riders on their team in the coming 3 to 5 years. Besides motorbike racing, the goal is also to create awareness for other sports such as cricket, badminton and tennis in the country.
