New Ford Endeavour has been listed in the company’s official Indian website under the ‘Future SUVs’ section. The successor of the aging current model is expected to closely follow the heels of Figo Aspire which is launching later today.
The passenger vehicle derivative of Ranger pickup truck would be imported from Thailand in the form of CKD kits and assembled at Ford India’s Chennai plant. The SUV emerges as a vastly improved product in all aspects compared to the outgoing model which couldn’t make an impact in a segment that is burgeoning in India.
In addition to a whole new approach to the exterior and interior designs, new Endeavour comes with improved suspension system and powertrain lineup. The equipment level has also been enhanced significantly with a keen eye of safety.

For India, Ford will offer its premium SUV with a choice of two diesel engines. The base engine is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit which is good for 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque. Range-topping motor is a 3.2-litre five cylinder unit outputting a healthy 197 hp and 470 Nm of torque. The former will be available only in 4×2 configuration with an option of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions while the latter will be offered in 4×4 configuration with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
