New Maruti Alto 800 small car offered in a choice of 6 variants

The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will compete with both Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark in its class. Available in a choice of three variants, the newly launched Alto 800 is available in Standard, LX and LX1 along with three CNG models taking them to a total of 6 variants. The entry level Alto 800 Std is priced at Rs.2.44 lakhs while Alto800 LX variant is priced at Rs.2.76 lakhs and the top end model LXi is priced at Rs.2.99 lakhs. CNG options are priced between Rs.3.19 lakhs for the base model and Rs.3.56 lakhs for the LXi and though priced aggressively, considering that these give outstanding mileage of 30.36 kmpl a Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 increase is not much to ask.

Offered in bright shades of Blazing Red Pearl, Torque Blue Pearl, Granite Grey White and Silver on its exteriors customers are given a choice of two interior shades of Brown and Grey. There are a number of updates seen in its engine as well. Alto 800 possesses the same 796cc 3 cylinder 12 valve engine seen on its earlier model but with a performance and fuel efficiency boost which makes the engine now offer 47 bhp power and 69 Nm torque.

This is a 3 bhp and 6 Nm increase as compared to its earlier model. Fuel efficiency on the earlier model was at 19.7 kmpl while this has been upped to 22.7 kmpl in the current model which may be just 3 kmpl but will go a long way in an age in which fuel prices are continually being increased.
