Next-gen GT-R to be built by Nismo and not Nissan? 2014 GT-R test prototype spied
It is now reported that the next gen GT-R is to be completely developed by NISMO, and not by Nissan. Nismo stands for Nissan Motorsport International Limited and is a performance division of the passenger car maker Nissan Motors.
Meanwhile, work is progressing on schedule for the 2014 GT-R. To test the new GT-R, the company recently got exclusive access to Nordschleife, where it put the model to the test of speed and performance. Formula 1 driver Sébastien Buemi is chief development test driver for the 2014 GT-R NISMO as he attempts to break the earlier record of speed clocked at 7:18:6 which was accomplished at Nürburgring in 2012.
2014 Nissan GT-R NISMO, the road legal track car will receive a number of updates both exterior and internal. On its exterior will be improved car aerodynamics with a lower front end and rear bumpers while modifications are also seen in wings, side skirts and rear wing. Interiors will sport suede trimmed Nismo sports seats with red accents with matching updates on steering wheel, pedal gauges and gear knob.
