It has come as a shock to auto enthusiasts and specially Land Rover aficionados that the new Land Rover Defender will be rolled out from the Tata Motors' factory in Pune. Looked upon till date as exclusive property of Britain, it was recently revealed that in a bid to keep costs on par and compete in the international markets, Land Rover Defender will be assembled at the company unit in Pune.
Seeing increased demand both in Asian countries and the UAE, the company has decided that it will be an economical proposition if Land Rover Defender is assembled in India. This decision will held in reducing costs and bring the vehicles closer to auto markets which have been showing increased promise specially to larger and more powerful vehicles.
Some Land Rover Defenders may still be sent back to Europe for final finishing touches. 2015 Defender will have a T5 chassis as seen in the Land Rover 4 Discovery and Range Rover Sport. It will also possess a new set of lights, revised grille and state of the art interiors.
