Nissan and Datsun to have separate showrooms by 2017

As on date, Nissan and Datsun cars are sold through common company showrooms across the country. But that will not be the case in 2017 as Nissan plans to have exclusive dealership for Datsun in India. By the end of this fiscal, Nissan plans to have a few exclusive showrooms operational.

Datsun to get independent dealership in IndiaNissan has indicated that exclusive dealer outlets will be set up in the current fiscal for sales of entry level Datsun brand of car. The Japanese auto maker currently sells Datsun Go in India through existing dealers which is managed by Nissan since separation from Hover Automotive India, the company’s sales, marketing and distribution partners.

With new dealerships being appointed for Datsun in this fiscal, plans are to have totally independent outlets for the two brands in India due to the fact that customer profiles of Nissan and Datsun are distinct and completely separate showrooms for both brands will come into effect within the next three years.

Datsun brand was introduced in India in March this year when the company launched Datsun Go in a price bracket of INR 3.12 lakhs and INR 3.70 lakhs. Prior to the launch of Datsun in India, Nissan broke ties with Hover Automotive India deciding to go solo with sales of all vehicles.
