Nissan has indicated that exclusive dealer outlets will be set up in the current fiscal for sales of entry level Datsun brand of car. The Japanese auto maker currently sells Datsun Go in India through existing dealers which is managed by Nissan since separation from Hover Automotive India, the company’s sales, marketing and distribution partners.
With new dealerships being appointed for Datsun in this fiscal, plans are to have totally independent outlets for the two brands in India due to the fact that customer profiles of Nissan and Datsun are distinct and completely separate showrooms for both brands will come into effect within the next three years.
Datsun brand was introduced in India in March this year when the company launched Datsun Go in a price bracket of INR 3.12 lakhs and INR 3.70 lakhs. Prior to the launch of Datsun in India, Nissan broke ties with Hover Automotive India deciding to go solo with sales of all vehicles.
Nissan India is also enhancing its supply chain and service areas in various phases. Phase I will see introduction of service campaign in 54 cities where free checks, discounts on spares and other facilities will be offered from May 9-18. A new spare part distribution centre at Oragadam is opened spanning an area of 4.8 lakh sq ft which will allow immediate delivery of spares while Nissan is also planning a hub and spoke part distribution centre in Mumbai and Delhi.
