For the first time since their launch in India, the Japanese automaker has registered sales over 1000 units in a single month. All thanks to the newly launched small car, Micra. Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) sold a total of 1249 cars in August 2010, last year for the same month, NMIPL sold a meagre 22 units.

Of the 1249 cars sold, 1182 were Micra, 21 were luxury sedan Teanna, 44 were luxury SUV X-Trail and remaining 2 units were clocked by Nissan 370Z. NMIPL has registered a surge in demand by almost 65%, because of which they have re-scheduled their original production schedule. NMIPL is also registering an increase in delivery period because of the same reason.

Their manufacturing unit near Chennai has started working round the clock in order to meet demand. Nissan India has received a total of 3600 advance bookings for Micra.
