Nissan Micra New Star of India digital campaign wins. The company is optimistic that sales will steadily rise in the Indian auto market. Plans are on to launch a Duster based vehicle for Nissan India.
Nissan has announced that its ad campaign for the Nissan Micra has received recognition from the Limca Book of Records for being the first to conduct online dance auditions and to feature 29 blue color Nissan Micra variants, the highest number of same color and branded vehicles used in an ad/film.
The ‘New Star of India’ campaign was launched in March 2012. Talent hunt for this ad campaign was launched in October 2011 following which 2,500 hopeful uploaded their auditions out of which 20 finalists were chosen on the number of votes they got on Facebook. These 20 lucky individuals were called up to star as co-stars in this ad. Ranbir Kapoor is the brand ambassador for Nissan and he was happy to feature in this first of a kind movie. In addition to the recognition from Limca Book of Records, the Facebook page of the brand had a fan following of over 5.21 lakhs during March last year due to the launch of the ad and numerous entries from people to take part in the campaign. That number currently stands at 5,634,400 fans.
Currently the brand is doing well in Indian auto circle though sales aren’t as high as some other auto manufacturers including Renault. Nissan will be introducing the Micra in Thailand, and the company is optimistic that sales will steadily rise in the Indian auto market. Plans are on to launch a Duster based vehicle for Nissan India.
