Nissan, the Japanese automakers, announced the revival of Datsun earlier this year. Datsun will be Nissan’s low cost brand, which will first be introduced in countries like India, Indonesia and Russia by 2014. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that their first Datsun car for India will be launched with competitive pricing. The vehicle will be introduced in India in 2014 and will be priced in a sub Rs.4 lakh category. Nissan has confirmed that they will be launching two new products in India, Indonesia and Russia with another one following in the coming three years.

Targeting sales in India, Nissan has announced that their model will be priced in the sub Rs 4,00,000 price bracket while in Indonesian markets the same will be less than $10,000 and in Russia well below the Rubles 400,000. To concentrate on these small and low cost vehicles in the near future, Renault Nissan also announced that they will be ending their sourcing collaboration with Bajaj Auto and will source out cheaper options in Indonesia, China or Russia.

China is emerging as a major auto market and hence the company has launched two new models under the Venucia Brand. D40 and D50 have been launched in China through a JV between Dong Feng and Nissan. In Russia, Nissan has tied up with AvtoVAZ along with whom they will be launching their new products in the future.
