By 2015, Nissan Motor Company’s first electric car is scheduled to make its appearance. However, top executives of the company while confirming this information also made it clear that this upcoming electric car which will be ready by 2015 will be released exclusively for Chinese markets.
The electric vehicle will be brought out by Nissan Motors in conjuncture with their Chinese counterparts Dongfeng Motor Company Limited (DFL) who will start producing the electric vehicle named Venucia e30 by early 2015. Till date, the only Nissan electric vehicle Nissan Leaf was available in China but was imported. Nissan Leaf has seen tremendous favor among Chinese buyers since 2011 which is what has prompted the company to bring out an electric vehicle exclusively for the country.
Nissan’s upcoming Venucia e30 was earlier seen in concept form at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year. It is essentially a Nissan Leaf with a few cosmetic changes and a new badge. It will be produced in China for Chinese markets following Nissan’s commitment to zero emission leadership. DFL will be instrumental in launch of Venucia EV adapting Nissan’s advanced electric vehicle technology and will work with Chinese governments to realize this dream.
