French automobile manufacturer Peugeot Citroen has revealed it is in talks with General Motors Corporation U.S. to form an alliance. According to LaTribune.fr an online newspaper, Europe's second largest automotive group, Peugeot has been in continuous talks with GM in regard with forming a partnership.
Although no names of officials from either company were cited, the online newspaper speculated the deal may go through. Experts reveal that if a tie-up does take place between the two automobile majors it could prove disastrous for a number of manufacturers. A partnership would definitely strengthen the game for GM and Peugeot Citroen. Both automobile companies are doing exceedingly well in terms of sales with their respective line of vehicles.
Experts and industry insiders are of the opinion that talks between GM and Peugeot will not materialize. Industry experts throw light on the fact that GM has been shutting down plants in Europe to concentrate on Asia, the emerging market for automobiles.
