Polaris Slingshot three wheeler price starts from $19,999 (Rs 12 lakhs)
Polaris has drawn attention to their Slingshot three wheeler roadster to celebrate 60 years of innovation. The 3 wheeler Slingshot bears strong resemblance to the KTM X-Bow and represents the future of on road driving.
Ideally suited for off road driving, the two seater Slingshot sports an open cockpit offering a 360 degree view. Polaris presents Slingshot with sporty suspension, a wide body and low center of gravity. It is powered by a 2.4 liter dual overhead cam engine offering 173 hp power and mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Built of high tensile steel spaceframe, the swingarm is made of lightweight aluminum while drive belt is of reinforced carbon fiber. It is the amalgamation of these that has allowed the company to maintain overall weight of Slingshot at less than 1,700 lbs.
Debuting sometime in 2015, features on board the Polaris Slingshot are akin to those seen on a motorcycle and include electronic stability, traction control, LED tail lights, bucket seats, 3 point seat belts and sport larger tyres with forged aluminium wheels. Slingshot SL gets bigger wheels than the base variant and also sports media console with USB plugin, Bluetooth and back up camera. Polaris Slingshot has been in development for the past three years and finally goes into production this fall while official launch is slated for 2015.
