2014 Volkswagen Polo facelift spied ahead of 15th July launch
Volkswagen Polo facelift launch is slated for 15th of July 2014. Polo GT TDI is discontinued and GT TSI is not to be found. As a matter of fact, Volkswagen’s 1.6 litre diesel engine is pulled out of duty to bring in new 1.5 litre TDI specially made for India, to tap excise duty benefits. Petrol mill is not expected to be disturbed. New spy shots have emerged, thanks to ardent RushLane reader Kaushik Srinivasaraghavan.
Compared to exteriors of current VW Polo, facelift version gets brushed up front facade with noticeable change in grille design, headlamp touchup and tweaked bumper accommodating new chrome slat connecting fog lamps. Volkswagen has made 2014 Polo slightly more elegant and aggressive at same time. Rear fascia gets obscurely redesigned tail lamp insides, reshaped bumpers hosting widened number plate recess and reflectors on both sides.
Chic looking steering wheel with piano black decors, new & more ergonomic audio control buttons, and matte silver motifs on around centre console on dashboard make interiors of new Polo facelift look different. Extensive features seen in European version may not be included in upcoming Polo facelift for India.
New 1.5 litre TDI will be offered in two states of tune, 89 bhp and 104 bhp. There will be no GT badging anymore, just regular and high performance variants in 2014 Volkswagen Polo. Coming soon, Vento with same 1.5 TDI?
