After unveiling the concept for the first time back in 2010, Porsche 918 Spyder has been consistently in news. Earlier today, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Porsche unveiled their 918 Spyder Concept. This is the first time that Porsche has brought the 918 Spyder to the UK. The concept is currently in its testing phase and about a month back, spy photographers had managed to capture the 918 Spyder for the first time without any camouflage.

Porsche 918 Spyder is expected to go on sale late next year and will be a limited edition variant, just 918 units will be ever made. Powered by a 4.6L V8 engine generating 580 bhp, Porsche 918 Spyder is the first plug-in hybrid vehicle from Porsche. Two additional electric motors, one on each axle will generate a total of 180 bhp, taking the total power output of the sporstcar to 760 bhp.

Porsche claims that the 918 Spyder has a top speed of 330 kmph (204 mph) and can accelerate from 0-100 (0-60 mph) in just 2.9 seconds while it can circle the ring (Nürburgring Nordschleife) in just 7 minutes and 22 seconds, 10 seconds faster than Carrera GT. Once launched, Porsche 918 Spyder is expected to carry a price tag of €645,000 (£516,000 or US$805,000).

Porsche 918 Spyder is built using full CRFP – carbon fiber reinforced plastic monocoque.
