Porsche India to launch baby Cayenne, Macan by June 2014
Porsche Macan luxury SUV will be launched in India this June. To enter into the country via the CBU route, Macan is also known as the baby Cayenne. Touted as the smallest and sportiest SUV in India once launched, Macan in Indonesia means ‘tiger’. It will compete with Audi Q5, Range Rover Evoque and BMW X3 once successfully launched.
In India, Porsche Macan SUV will be launched in two variants – Turbo and Diesel. Setting launch date in June is due to the fact that the company is awaiting decisions with regard to the new government which could bring with it new policy decisions and a new budget. These factors will have a direct bearing on suitable pricing of the new Porsche Macan SUV.
Engine details on board the new Macan Turbo in India will include a 3.6 liter, six cylinder turbo engine offering peak power of 405 PS and peak torque of 550 Nm. The engine will be mated to a Porsche 7 speed PDK unit allowing the Macan Turbo to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 266 kmph. The Macan Diesel variant will be powered by a 3.0 liter, six cylinder engine offering peak power of 262 PS and peak torque of 580 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is accomplished in 6.3 seconds and top speed is at 230 kmph.
Pricing will be a major factor as the company brings Porsche Macan to India via the CBU route from its production facility in Leipzig. Engineered with a host of safety technologies such as Hill Descent Control, Torque Vectoring Plus and Porsche Active Suspension Management, Wheel and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Porsche Stability Management Porsche avows that its huge price tag will be justified due to these rich features.
