Porsche Macan production at Leipzig plant
500 guests attended the official opening of the Porsche plant in Leipzig, Germany yesterday. The plant has been expanded to include production of the new Porsche Macan.
Constructed at a total cost of 500 million euros, Leipzig’s plant is designed to meet special environmental criteria and houses a body shop, and paint shop.
Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, stated: “The fact that Porsche has invested half a billion euro in the Leipzig plant in addition to the original 250 million euro makes one thing clear: we are totally convinced in the qualities of this location and that the Macan will be a marketing success.”
The Porsche plant expansion is regarded as a logistics tour de force. and took about 2 two years from start to finish. Porsche Macan, the first sportscar in the compact SUV segment marks the way for Porsche’s new segment entry following the success of Porsche Cayenne.
