Things are looking good for Nissan Motor India as pre-order bookings of Micra reached more than 1,000. Micra will be launched in July and bookings started last May. Price for the small car remains undisclosed but booking payments of Rs. 50,000 were accepted.
Nissan Motors' Delhi facility has the highest number of bookings. Bangalore came second, then followed by Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai respectively.
Managing Director Kiminobu Tokuyama said in an interview that they are confident that the booking trend will continue to improve as the company moves closer to the start of sales by middle of July 2010.
Nissan launched the new Nissan Micra globally on 2 March 2010 at the 80th Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland. It will come with a 1.2 L, 74 bhp, 3 cylinder pot engine, and was designed to appeal to a unisex crowd. The car will also be sold in Europe in November 2010.
