Dr. Priyadarshini Pal Singh 1st Indian Chief Medical Officer at F1
2013 Indian GP is just over and 2015 Indian GP may be a distant dream. Dr. Priyadarshini Pal Singh of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals is the first Indian to be designated Chief Medical Officer for an event of international standards.
The team were on hand to offer immediate medical support in the form of emergency medicine, specialists, doctors and paramedics and nurses, all of whom were put through rigorous training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Trauma Life Support Training. The entire team was trained in special drills which included extrications in the event of an accident, ambulance transfer and air evacuation drills. The team had on hand 4 medical intervention vehicles, 7 ambulances and 2 stand by helicopters at the scene of the events to offer any sort of medical assistance before, during or after the races.
To prepare for this rare honor, Singh had to undergo rigorous training for the past two years at Singapore GP while she has participated in various seminars and training courses. Last year, she was selected as Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Indian GP and became Chief Medical Officer for the 2013 edition.
