In first and third position in Rally of Coimbatore, Team Mahindra Adventure have proved their skill of speed in a rough and rugged XUV 500. The team was seen competing against vehicles which are petrol based and geared up to show similar performance throughout the rest of the IRC season.
At the wheels of the XUV500 was none other than current APRC champion Gaurav Gill, with co-driver Musa Sheriff. They were closely followed in second place by Arjun Rao and Satish Rajagopal aboard VW Polo while third place was taken by Sunny Sidhu, current Desert Storm champion along with co driver PVS Murthy.
Rally of Coimbatore saw a total of 36 cars participating in two stages to include LMW Road (26.10 km) and Mettupalayam Road (12.65 km). The cars were flagged off in two minute intervals from Kari Motor Speedway after which they had to tackle a distance of 360 kms. GPS system was fitted onto each of the participating cars so as to keep tabs on speed and routes.
The championships consist of a total of six stages, out of which the first was held in Nashik followed by the second in Coimbatore. Four more stages left to go, next round of IRC will be AVT Premium South India Rally to be held in Chennai between July 25th and 27th. This will be followed by events in Bangalore, Calcutta and Chikmangalur later this year.
