Range Rover Evoque will soon be produced in India
Jaguar Land Rover is planning on adding investments, expansion of dealer network and increasing production operations in the country. At the 2014 Auto Expo, it was confirmed that Land Rover India will start the local production of their baby Range Rover, Evoque from their plant in Pune.
This will make pricing more affordable and competitive with others in its segment. Currently, the Evoque is brought into India via the CBU route which attracts hefty import duty of 170%. Local manufacture, which is slated to commence later this year or early 2015, will allow to company to price the new Evoque on par with other crossover SUVs in the segment.
Jaguar Land Rover has introduced a unique Wade Assist System on board the new Evoque which comes into play when tackling flooded streets during the monsoons. A new Traffic Sign Recognition system has also found its way into the new Evoque while there is a major change where transmission is concerned, ditching its previous 6 speed transmission for a new and more efficient 9 speed ZF transmission. With this new transmission on board, the 2014 Evoque sees fuel efficiency enhanced by 11.4% while auto emissions are reduced by 9.5%. (via)
