Launched in India last year at a starting price of Rs 1.09 crores, Jaguar Land Rover introduced the new Range Rover Sport in Malaysia for a starting price of RM 859,888 (INR 1,58,33,251). Unlike India, where only two variants are on offer, the 3.0l V6 diesel and 5.0l petrol, Malaysia gets an additional third variant in the form of 3.0L V6 petrol.
New RR Sport is 500 kgs lighter as compared to its earlier model. This overall saving of weight has resulted in improved fuel consumption and better driving agility along with better balance.
Priced at RM 859,888 (INR 1,58,33,251) for the base 3.0L SDV6 Diesel HSE,RM 939,888 (INR 1,73,06,303) for 3.0L Supercharged Petrol HSE Dynamic and RM 998,888 (INR 1,83,92,679) for 5.0L Supercharged Petrol HSE Dynamic, the company expects to sell 90 units of the new generation Range Rover Sport this year. Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia Syed Mudzhar Syed Ali has already confirmed that they have already received 20 pre launch bookings.
The three 2014 Range Rover Sport models are offered in 5.0 liter V8 supercharged petrol engine offering 510 PS, 3.0 liter V6 supercharged petrol engine with 340 PS and 3.0 SDV6 diesel engine offering 292 PS.
Features aboard the 2014 Range Rover Sport include DSC, traction control, gradient control, roll stability control and Terrain Response 2 system allowing for five settings of General, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, Sand and Rock Crawl. Also present is Dynamic Response Control, Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential and Torque Vectoring by Braking.
Interiors sport a 12.3 inch high resolution display along with an 8 inch touchscreen display on its centre console. Available in 11 interior color schemes, interiors are seen in a various seating configurations of 5+2 with additional seats in the third row behind rear passenger seats that fold flat when not in use.
