Sandro Cortese, Red Bull KTM rider when directly from pole to top place at Sunday’s events in Misano across the newly named circuit in memory of Marco Simoncelli, the Italian racer who met with his untimely end after an accident during the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang on 23rd October 2011.
For the German racer astride a KTM Moto3 bike it was a superb performance as he sped past Maverick Vinales of Spain with a lead of 46 points. Vinales struggled to keep up with his rival but ended up finishing fifth. This is Cortese’s third Grand Prix win of the season during which time he has shown consistence of performance and resolute determination in all races where he succeeded to the podium in every race except the one in France where he finished sixth.
The race itself was difficult for Cortese who found it difficult to concentrate on his performance but gave it his best towards the end and managed to reach victory after a superb performance in the 23rd lap. Cortese was behind Fenati but with all 11 riders in a group Cortese managed to speed past Feneti in the 19th lap. The riders now look forward to competing in Aragon, Spain at the end of this month before they come back to Spain in November.
