Dany Torres of Spain won at the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour stop in Dubai. His closest competitor being defending champion Levi Sherwood of New Zealand. The scoreline read 3-2 on the dirt track close to the towering Burj Khalifa. The Swatch Best Move award was taken by Thomas Pages who won for his volt jump. The Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard roared with a 13,000 strong spectator voice.
Prior to the event Levi Sherwood had conceded that his rival Thomas Pages has taken the sport of freestyle motocross to new levels. However, he also made it clear that if Pages falters, he would be ready to capitalize and use them for his benefit. Pages did well last month as he completed three of the most difficult FMX tricks created in Mexico. Sherwood who won the competition last year said that he would not be trying too hard to impress the crowd with similar nerve wracking tricks performed by Pages, but would wait and watch for the Frenchman to make a mistake or two before getting on the podium as often as possible.
Sherwood finished third at Mexico City while Spain’s Dany Torres came in at second place. However Torres had a different insight. According to him it was important for one to find new tricks rather than waiting for the opponent to falter and make mistakes.
